My research focuses on the properties and radiative effects of clouds. These studies rely primarily on observational, regional-scale data derived either from field experiments or satellite. Examples include elucidating and explaining cloud vertical structure in the Tropics; mixed-phase cloud behavior in the Arctic; three-dimensional radiative transfer behavior for both boundary-layer and more vertically-developed clouds; and aerosol indirect effects on stratocumulus clouds.
