NEWS:

4/7/10: The European Geophysical Union General Assembly gives us another opportunity to showcase our work on The Recognition of Multi-Decadal Scale Climate Variability in the Paleo-Record Over the Past 1000 Years.

3/12/10: HOT OFF THE PRESS Swart, P. K., L. Greer, B. E. Rosenheim, C. S. Moses, A. J. Waite, A. Winter, R. E. Dodge, and K. Helmle (2010), The 13C Suess effect in scleractinian corals mirror changes in the anthropogenic CO2 inventory of the surface oceans, Geophys. Res. Lett., 37, L05604, doi:10.1029/2009GL041397. Even made AGU journal highlights!

1/15/10: Miami hosts a CLIVAR workshop aimed at predicting climate in the coming decades. It was a great opportunity to show off some of the potential paleo archives offer for our understanding of multi-decadal scale climate variability!

12/18/09: Another Fall American Geophysical Union meeting in San Francisco comes to an end. The Stable Isotope Lab represented very well!

10/30/09: Peter and I participated in the Past, Present, and Future Climate Change Drivers and Everglades Restoration Workshop hosted by FIU, the Florida Coastal Everglades LTER and the South Florida Water Management District.

6/13/09: Undertook an expedition to the Monster Coral (for a non-scientific description of the specimen, click here) aboard the R/V Vigilante with Cpt. Rosenberg. All trials and tribulations aside, it was a great success!

12/20/08: Having returned from the Fall American Geophysical Union meeting in San Francisco, CA, a hectic year of travel and meetings winds to a close...

11/14/08: Helping out and participating in the IMBIZO meeting in Coconut Grove this week proved to be a good opportunity to look at marine biogeochemistry in a changing climate from a new perspective.

7/20/08: Goldschmidt in Vancouver, Canada has also concluded. It was a great meeting and got lots of new ideas circulating. Also, absolutely beautiful area!

7/11/08: The International Coral Reef Symposium winds down and so concludes my first talk for an international meeting.

6/17/08: HOT OFF THE PRESS Waite, A. J., S. J. Gibbs, L. Diester-Haass, R. E. M. Rickaby, and K. Billups (2008), A top-down and bottom-up comparison of paleoproductivity proxies: Calcareous nannofossil Sr/Ca ratios and benthic foraminiferal accumulation rates, Geochem. Geophys. Geosyst., 9, Q06005, doi:10.1029/2007GC001812.

4/28/08: Just returned from CLIMECO workshop in Brest, France. A number of new avenues to pursue. And many thanks to everyone involved!
