Masters' student (RSMAS, Univ. of Miami)I am interested in tropical climate dynamics. Currently, I am investigating the role of stochastic forcing on the variability of El Nino - Southern Oscillation (ENSO).
Atmospheric variability uncoupled to the oceanic variability can act as effective stochastic forcing on the coupled ocean-atmospheric system. The spatial structure of stochastic forcing derived through linear analyses closely resembles the observed structure of Madden Julian Oscillation (MJO). Using intermediate models forced with stochastic forcing derived from a general circulation model (GCM) data, I am investigating the influence of decadal variability of MJO on the decadal variability of ENSO.
