Nick is able to capture landscape unlike any I have seen. His art is unique and fresh, a point of view that ignores the obvious and goes for the subtle. He paints the real Florida and in his work I find the Florida that enchants me.-C. Faunce I have been painting for 12 years, having developed my own style through experimentally delving into many different techniques, media, and subject matter. Through this exploration, I have discovered my style of textural impressionism. I search for the essence of nature through my art. The paintings arise from moments of calm and contemplation. It is like a daydream, I gaze beyond my eyes and become merely a part of the process. On moving to Florida I sought open spaces, challenged by the lack of topography but entranced by the broadness of landscape. I became intrigued by the point where sky and water meet, drawn in by the texture of cloud and water, pulled in further by so many rich subtleties of color. Florida has changed my pallet; my colors have become more toned down, softer and more serene. In my painting I challenge myself to step beyond the bustle of urban life to find the quiet nature that is always there, waiting to be noticed. -Nicholas Coroneos |
