Manatee Bowl 2005

On February 11 and 12, 2005 the Rosenstiel School and Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institution hosted approximately 75 students from 11 Florida high schools for the 8th Annual National Ocean Sciences Bowl (NOSB) Florida Regional Competition. The competition took place at MAST Academy and here at Rosenstiel.

MAST Academy Team I placed first in the competition, followed by Miami Beach Senior High School at second and MAST Academy Team II at third. The winning MAST team advances to NOSB Nationals to compete against 24 other regional winners for the national title April 22 to 25 in Biloxi, MS.

NOSB is a program of the Consortium for Oceanographic Research & Education (CORE) and is funded through the National Oceanographic Partnership Program (NOPP), a collaboration of 15 federal agencies. Its purpose is to encourage and support the next generation of marine scientists, policymakers, teachers, explorers, researchers, technicians, environmental advocates and informed citizens. Approximately 2,000 students from 375 high schools will participate in 2005.
