  1. A global ocean survey of anthropogenic and organic carbon, and tracers of ocean circulation;

  2. Extensive field programs assessing trace gas chemistry and transport;

  3. Comprehensive air-sea interaction research including design and deployment of air-sea flux buoys, analyses of in situ and remote sensing data, a salt-water wave tank laboratory, and numerical modeling of a variety of phenomena including hurricanes and ENSO;

  4. An Aquaculture Program that focuses on the technological, environmental and economical feasibility of sustainable aquaculture operations;

  5. A multi-disciplinary assessment of the value of climate forecasting for agricultural production in North and South Americas;

  6. A Reefs of Hope project that aims to understand how reefs in different parts of the world will respond to climate change;

  7. A research that combines animal physiology, molecular biology, pharmacology and toxicology to understand the impact of coastal environment on human health;

  8. Applications of satellite data in detecting structures of active volcanoes in the Pacific, the water level in the Everglades, and man-made land subsidence in a number of metropolitan areas;
