KEY!Notes for Key Biscayne Families
Local heroes featured in upcoming Rosenstiel School series
VIRGINIA KEY, FL (October 19, 2005) — Getting to know local legends a little better will be the theme at Rosenstiel School second lecture in a new series of family-friendly talks called KEY!Notes. Titled “Key Folk Heroes,” the talk features locals James “Jimbo” Luznar and Mabel Miller, who will discuss life and times on Virginia Key and Key Biscayne on Tuesday, Oct. 25 at 6 p.m. in the Rosenstiel School auditorium
James “Jimbo” Luznar
If he isn't smoking some fish or playing bocce on the clay court, Jimbo Luznar might be tending to the shrimp boats or sitting in the shade enjoying the company of friends at his little-known original Florida establishment – Jimbo's. Since 1954, he's been here selling shrimp and hosting everyone from celebrities and politicians to good friends and neighbors
Mabel Miller Noted local environmental educator Mabel Miller has lived in Miami-Dade County for nearly 60 years. She helped form the Marjory Stoneman Douglas Biscayne Nature Center and has worked there for more than 20 years. She is an active proponent of education efforts and environmental conservation
KEY!Notes is a new series of free, hour-long talks that will feature issues that specifically interest those on Key Biscayne and Virginia Key. Parking is available on campus. Light refreshments will be served.

| Feb. 28 | Handling the Hurricanes, featuring Dr. David Nolan, assistant professor of meteorology involved in the Rosenstiel School's RAINEX and Hurricane Futures Market projects. |
