In 2010 I participated in a series of near-shore and riverine field experiments with my adviser Ad Reniers and collaborators from the Naval Postgraduate School. The goal is to better understand the multitude of processes at play in these complicated, often time chaotic flow fields. Besides getting to deploy autonomous vehicles, drifters, dye, and a plethora of other expensive instruments, we get to swim around in rip currents and chase Sturgeon!

My Adviser is Dr. Ad Reniers. He is a modeling guru from the cold sandy shores of the Netherlands, enjoys beer with sediment in it and swimming in rip currents. I think he’s a Capricorn...actually I just made that up, but he could be. Click on the photo to visit his site.
