Ticosondes
The Ticosondes were a series of experiments that took place in Costa Rica. The main objective of this missions were to sample the tropical troposphere. The sampling was made by radiosondes every six hours and in the last missions using aircraft data as well.
The first Ticosonde was during the summer of 2004 as part of NASA’s North American Monsoon Experiment (NAME 2004). Followed by Ticosonde 2005 and 2006, as part of NASA’s Tropical Cloud Systems and Processes experiment (TCSP) and Costa Rica – Aura Validation Experiment. The last Ticosonde was in 2007 together with NASA’s Tropical Composition, Cloud, and Climate Coupling Experiment (TC4) .
Some of the institutions that participated in the missions are: NASA-AMES Research Center , The University of Costa Rica, The National Weather Service of Costa Rica and, The National University of Costa Rica.
