The Galapagos Islands
InSAR surface deformation for the 2008 eruption of Cerro Azul derived using 6 different tracks/beams (3 ascending, 3 descending) from ESA's Envisat satellite.
The Galapagos Islands are located in the Pacific Ocean off the west coast of South America. The island chain results from the movement of the Nazca plate over the Galapagos hotspot. We were able to capture the deformation of several eruptions on three different volcanoes with InSAR.
