Professional Information

In Fall 2003 I started working as Postdoctoral Research Scientist at the Meteorology and Physical Oceanography (MPO) division of the Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Sciences (RSMAS) at the University of Miami. My supervisor is Dr. Amy Clement. In May 2004, I was promoted to Assistant Scientist. Our main focus so far has been the tropical overturning circulation (Hadley Cell) and its relation to SSTs, atmospheric and oceanic heat transport, and the tropical thermodynamic structure.

I finished my PhD at the Department of Atmospheric Sciences (DAS) at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in May 2003. My thesis advisor was Dr. Walter Robinson. My research interests have concentrated on basic dynamics of the atmosphere. Particularly, I have investigated the low-frequency component of the atmospheric variability.

Personal Information

I was born in Volos, a beautiful city of central Greece. Volos is right at the Aegean sea (Pagasitikos gulf). It is very close to the spot where the Argonauts started their expedition for the Golden Fleece. West of it you can find the Pelion mountain, home of the mythical Centaurs. The modern city is an industrial and touristic hub of central Greece.
