1/2 cup butter
1/4 cup sugar
3 tablespoons cocoa
1 egg, beaten
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 cups crushed vanilla wafers
1 cup coconut
1/2 cup chopped nuts
Melt butter in top of double boiler. Add sugar and cocoa and stir until smooth. Stir in egg and vanilla. Remove from heat. Stir in wafer crumbs, coconut, and walnuts. Press into greased 8x12 inch pan. Chill in refrigerator for 1/2 hour or until set.
Second layer
1/4 cup butter
2 tablespoons Birds Dessert Mix
2 cups confectioner's sugar
2-3 tablespoons hot water or milk
Cream butter. Blend in Dessert Mix, sugar and water. Spread over first layer. Chill in refrigerator for 1/2 hour.
Third layer
1 tablespoon butter
4 ounces semi-sweet or unsweetened chocolate
Melt butter and chocolate. Spread on top of second layer. Store in refrigerator until firm.
Cut into bars. These bars keep indefinitely.
Yield: 32 cookies
