Dr. Podestá works on the development and testing of algorithms to estimate sea surface temperature (SST) from satellite-based infrared radiometers, such as the AVHRR, MODIS and VIIRS instruments. He has been involved in studies of interannual and multi-decadal climate variability and agriculture. His current interests include the modeling and understanding of complex coupled natural-human systems, decision-making under risk and uncertainty, and the design and implementation of “climate services”.
