My research group's current efforts in marine chemistry involve: 1) studies of the aqueous chemistry of hydrogen peroxide, superoxide radical and organic radicals; 2) the photochemically induced change in the speciation of biologically important metals in seawater; 3) sunlight degradation of dissolved organic compounds 4) the biological and photochemical production of volatile organic compounds, 5) the effects of volatile organic compounds on the production of ozone in the troposphere and 6) the effects of UV-B solar radiation on photosynthetic organisms.
