Dr. Brown's specialties are satellite oceanography, development of quantitative methods for the processing and use of satellite remotely-sensed observations to study ocean variability, focused on ocean color and infrared observations. Experimental focus has been on western boundary current variability for the studies in the Somali Current, Gulf Stream, Agulhas and Brazil Confluence regions. More recently this effort has expanded to include development of basin scale climatologies for SST and color fields.
