 Macro 1st Place Vickie Coker, Austin, TX Pygmy Sea Horse on Lobster Wall at Sipadan Water Village in Borneo, Malaysia. The animal is only about 1/2" tall and lives on sea fans. The texture of their bodies mimics the texture of the sea fan, making it nearly impossible to see them with the naked eye! |

 Wide-angle 2nd Place Alessio Viora, Borgomanero, Italy A male Pumpkinseed (Lepomis gibbosus) in Ginnie Springs, Florida. They are territorial fish and this individual was curious by his reflection in the camera lens (giving the impression of another male approaching) so he displayed. |
 Wide-angle 3rd Place Thomas Carey, Kailua-Kona , Hawaii Juvenile Sperm whale, about 10 miles west of Kona, Hawaii. There are about a dozen or more Remora attached to it. The adults had only one or two Remora attached because they dive much deeper. |
 Fish or Marine Animal Portrait 1st Place Steven Kovacs, Clewiston, Florida A male Banded Jawfish (Opistognathus macrognathus) in Riviera Beach, Florida. The Jawfish will hold the brooding eggs in its mouth until they hatch. They are bottom dwellers that burrow into sand, rocks, and coral debris. |

 Fish or Marine Animal Portrait 3rd Place Steffen Binke, Mooroobool, Australia Dwarf Minke whale (Balaenoptera acutorostrata acutorostrata) on the Ribbon Reefs, which is part of the Great Barrier Reef, Australia. The photo was taken just after sunrise on a dive site called Lighthouse Bommie, while the whale was approximately 2 meters away. |
 Best Student Entry Neil Hammerschlag, Miami, Florida (Web) Pig in the water off the Exumas, Bahamas. There is a small, relatively remote, island inhabited by a family of pigs. For food, the pigs rely on Island visitors feeding them leftovers. The pigs frequently swim in the water to meet boats passing by. |
