April 29, 2011
MIAMI — May 29, 2011 — This past Thursday was national “Take Your Child To Work Day.” Twenty-seven kids participated at the University of Miami’s Rosenstiel School of Marine & Atmospheric events coordinated by Josie Lopez, Jackie Reyes, Sidney Hartley and the new manager of HR and Faculty Affairs, Cassandra Wiggins. A tour of the Fish Hatchery, a Liquid Nitrogen demonstration by Dr. Peter Swart, a Wind Wave Tank demonstration, a movie and lunch catered by Parties by Pat, were all on the day’s activity list. Goodie bags were given to all kids who participated at the end of the day. “I saw sea slugs, fish, watched a movie and had lunch. It was fun and I saw my friend Nicole (the daughter of employee Jackie Reyes),” said Maya, the daughter of Carla Lovinsky. The University of Miami is the largest private research institution in the southeastern United States. The University’s mission is to provide quality education, attract and retain outstanding students, support the faculty and their research, and build an endowment for University initiatives. Founded in the 1940’s, the Rosenstiel School of Marine & Atmospheric Science has grown into one of the world’s premier marine and atmospheric research institutions.
