First National Bank of South Miami Exhibits Underwater Images from UM Rosenstiel School Collection

SOUTH MIAMI, Fla. – Images from the University of Miami (UM) Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science’s Annual Underwater Photography Contest will be on display through May 30, 2009 at the First National Bank of South Miami, Kendall Branch (7887 North Kendall Drive, South Miami.) The bank’s Gallery is a public art space that is open Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday the gallery is open from 9 a.m. to 1p.m.
The 24 images on display depict underwater themes submitted by amateur photographers from more than 7 countries. Currently in its fifth year, the Rosenstiel School’s contest accepts photographs in three categories: wide angle, macro and fish or marine animal portrait. Besides winners in each category, one ‘Best Overall” image is selected, and additional prizes are given to three UM student entries. Images from the contest are displayed in this traveling exhibit throughout South Florida as part of the Rosenstiel School’s educational outreach agenda.
