The Intercomparison

An intercomparison of self-calibrating surface-based radiometers took place during the last week of May, 2001 at the Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science.

Pictures taken during the Intercomparison, in the lab and on the ship, are available- please check with Peter Minnett before you use them in a publication.

Data and graphics are available from the /ir2001/data   directory. Again, please check with Peter Minnett  before using them in communication outside the immediate group of participants. He will check with the owner of the data or plot whether there are more recent versions, and for permission.

Please send material to Peter Minnett for inclusion on this page or for distribution amongst the participants.

Please check this page frequently as it will be updated to accommodate new developments.

New additions and changes:

28 June 2001:    Water bath temperature files in /ir2001/data/lab/WBBB
28 June 2001:    Ship track plot ( ws_mlt_track_ir2001.gif) in /ir2001/data/WSmith
28 June 2001:    Plot of temperatures from cruise ( boat-cruise_26593_image001.gif) in /ir2001/data/WSmith   - from Simon Hook
28 June 2001:    Radiosonde profile plots in /ir2001/data/WSmith/rsondes
28 June 2001:    Plots of DAR011 WBBB calibration moved to /ir2001/data/lab/DAR011  - from Ian Barton
01 July 2001:    NetCDF files of MAERI sea and sky brightness temperatures added to /ir2001/data/WSmith/MAERI
02 July 2001:    ASCII file of one-minute data ( miami_join.out ) from the Walton Smith cruise placed in /ir2001/data/WSmith   - from Ian Barton
20 Sep 2001:    Photographs taken on the Walton Smith added
20 Sep 2001:    Photographs from the laboratory added
20 Sep 2001:    Labels on   boat-cruise_26593_image001.gif  corrected following email exchange
15 Oct 2001:    Replaced miami_join.out  (original version renamed miami_join.out.v1) and added miami_join_sky.out from Ian Barton. The first has the derived SST values and the met, nav, etc. data as well.  The second has the Sea and Sky BTs for each instrument. They have been updated to include the correct lat/lon  (previously we jumped from latitude 27.599 to 28.000!).  A few other minor things have been fixed, like the DAR011 sky temps which previously were interpolated values and not measurements.
