Dear RSMAS,

Do you enjoy international collaboration and have a passion for scientific applications? If so, read on...

For the past 4 years I have been volunteering with an international non-profit organization that specializes in the imaging and digitization of historic environmental data. The majority of our work centers upon the preservation and digitization of meteorological records. Overall, the process of imaging and digitizing historic non-digital (written, photos, microfiche, etc....) data is known as DATA RESCUE.

I will be presenting a seminar describing the data rescue process along with reasons why it is important. In addition, I will also provide a brief overview of the International Environmental Data Rescue Organization (IEDRO , www.iedro.org ) along with my duties as Scientific Data and Applications Manager. Plus, I will highlight the numerous opportunities for future involvement. IEDRO NEEDS SCIENTISTS!

WHEN: Thursday 3pm, April 25th
WHERE: SA 103 Seminar Room

In the meantime, please see this short youtube video about IEDRO and how weather data saves lives:

See you on Thursday,
teddy allen (MPO)
