Reproduction at older ages

Fundamental questions in life history theory include how organisms schedule reproduction over their life times and whether at older ages animals increase or restraint their investment in reproduction. In this talk I will show data on age-dependent variation in reproductive investment in the blue-footed booby, a long-lived marine bird. I will argue that the pattern of senescence can vary depending on the organism’s life history, ecology and physiological “intrinsic” factors.
