Subject: SEMINAR: Greater Miami Chapter of the AMS meeting 23 October, 2012
Date: Wed, 3 Oct 2012 16:38:04 -0400

Friends of the Greater Miami chapter of the AMS:
There are two announcements.  First, the AMS is inviting local chapter members to participate in its first ever T-shirt design contest.
The winning design will be used on T-shirts sold at the 2013 Annual Meeting in Austin, Texas and the winner will receive free registration
for that meeting.  Further details are found here

Second, our next chapter meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 23rd at 3 PM.  It will be held in the first floor conference room of
AOML.  I will be presenting a talk entitled:
"They Called the Wind Mahina:
The History of Naming Cyclones"
During some related research I came across several interesting facts about this history which are not well known and thought I would
share them with our local weather community.  Refreshments will be served 15 minutes prior to the talk in a vain attempt to induce you
to come.

We will be using GoToMeeting to open up the talk to our remote friends.  GoToMeeting can be accessed using this link:

For audio, join the HRD conference call line: 1-866-700-1361, passcode 491147.

Please use the conference call number for audio as we will not be activating the use of your computer mic and speakers using GoToMeeting.
