MPO Seminar Brian McNoldy “ Hurricane Potpourri for $1000, Alex ” Room: Slab seminar room, S/A 103 Date: Monday, September 24, at 4:30 p.m.
Brian joined the RSMAS/MPO team in January as a senior research associate in Sharan Majumdar's group. As an introductory seminar, Brian will summarize some of his recent work while at Colorado State University and wrap up with his current project. The topics to be discussed include 1) model environmental diagnostics and verification, 2) detailed radar documentation of eyewall mesovortices, and 3) plug-and-play vortex initialization. In addition to this work, he's been extending RSMAS' public outreach arm via his website with several real-time products (http://andrew.rsmas.miami.edu/bmcnoldy/), a new work-in-progress Hurricanes@RSMAS website to centralize hurricane research within the school (http://hurricanes.rsmas.miami.edu/), updates on tropical Atlantic activity on his personal blog (http://bmcnoldy.blogspot.com/), and posts as an invited blogger for the Washington Post (http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/capital-weather-gang).
