Friends of the Greater Miami AMS chapter:
As we move into the month of August plans are being finalized for commemorations marking the 20th
anniversary of Hurricane Andrew.  I have made up a calendar of several events that I have heard about that
is given below.  If you have items to add to this list please contact me.  I set up a page on our chapter's
website which I will update with any new entries as I receive them.

in conjunction with the Homestead, Florida
city's 100th birthday celebration

WFOR (Ch. 4) 6:30 PM "Remembering Andrew:
20 years later"
Friday August 24
FIU Engineering & 10:00 AM Andrew Commemoration and
Computing Center dedication of the new
"Wall of Wind"

Saturday August 25
Miami Science Museum Noon Hurricane Andrew Remembrance Day

In addition the Miami Herald, Sun-Sentinel, and Palm Beach Post are planning some sort of
commemorative edition but I haven't received any specific dates.  WPLG has a series of web pages on
Andrew.  NOAA's Hurricane Research Division (who I work for) is planning several webpages on our
efforts to gather data during Andrew and the scientific papers published from that data set.
