Hi folks, Today, Zorana Jelenak and Paul Chang from NESDIS/Star will give a seminar on OSCAT wind products at 2 pm in the NHC media room. 2-3pm, Thursday, July 12th "NOAA OSCAT Wind Products: Status and Plans" (Abstract is below) Zorana Jelenak and Paul Chang NOAA/NESDIS/Center for Satellite Applications and Research All are welcome to attend. Best regards, chris ********************************************************************** Chris Landsea Science and Operations Officer NOAA/NWS/National Hurricane Center 11691 S.W. 17th Street Miami, Florida 33165-2149 Chris.Landsea@noaa.gov P:305-229-4446 ********************************************************************** “In this age of smart phones, Twitter and a 24/7 news media, every tropical wave rolling off faraway Africa is almost as closely monitored as a Kardashian sister shopping on South Beach.” – Curtis Morgan, Miami Herald, 16 May 2012 Abstract Over the past two years NOAA and NASA have been working with the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), Satellite Applications Center (SAC) on improving the L1B (sigma0) level data from the Oceansat-2scatterometer, OSCAT. On December 21, 2011 ISRO implemented the changes from the last NOAA-NASA-ISRO technical meeting and “froze” their L1B processing. This allowed NOAA to proceed with its OSCAT Wind Data Processer (OWDP) development, and starting in March 2012 NOAA OSCAT wind products were made available as part of an operational demonstration phase. During this phase, refinements to the OWDP continue to be made, while users have the opportunity to work with the data and provide valuable feedback during this transition phase. An overview and status of the NOAA OSCAT wind products will be presented. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Seminars and symposia at RSMAS To unsubscribe, e-mail: seminar-unsubscribe@lists.rsmas.miami.edu For additional commands, e-mail: seminar-help@lists.rsmas.miami.edu Post to: seminar@rsmas.miami.edu
