Abstract
Over the past two years NOAA and NASA have been working with the
Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), Satellite Applications
Center (SAC) on improving the L1B (sigma0) level data from the
Oceansat-2scatterometer, OSCAT. On December 21, 2011 ISRO
implemented the changes from the last NOAA-NASA-ISRO technical meeting
and “froze” their L1B processing. This allowed NOAA to proceed with
its OSCAT Wind Data Processer (OWDP) development, and starting in
March 2012 NOAA OSCAT wind products were made available as part of an
operational demonstration phase. During this phase, refinements to
the OWDP continue to be made, while users have the opportunity to work
with the data and provide valuable feedback during this transition
phase. An overview and status of the NOAA OSCAT wind products will be
presented.
