Title: Environmental Security and State Sovereignty in Transboundary Waterways: Reconciling Competition and Cooperation.
Abstract: The presentation will explore the relationship between water, security, and government. It will discuss the challenges of growing water scarcity in transboundary river basins and the conflicts that state sovereignty create for cooperation over common resources. It will analyze the Apalachicola - Chattahoochee - Flint River Basin as an interstate case study and the Mekong River Basin as an international case study.
