TITLE:         "Rapid-scan, polarimetric, mobile

   Doppler radar observations

                 of an EF-5 tornado"

Abstract:  A new mobile, X-band, polarimetric Doppler radar that scans rapidly using frequency hopping (RaXPol) was first used in the Southern Plains
last year. Results from a dataset collected in an EF-5 tornado will be highlighted. During the nearly one hour of volumetric data collected, data were collected
for a 5-min period with an update time of only 2 seconds at just the lowest elevation angle, revealing very short time-scale evolution. In addition, another
dataset in another tornado will be shown briefly, along with a summary of data collected during year 2 of VORTEX2, including mobile Doppler lidar data
and data from two other mobile Doppler radars.
