"Climate and Catastrophe in Cuba and the Atlantic World in the Age of Revolution"

Sherry Johnson investigates the issues of climate cycles, their visible weather effects (hurricanes and drought) and the consequences of such severe weather events in the Caribbean and the Atlantic world in the late eighteenth century. She received her doctorate in history from the University of Florida. She has authored one monograph on Cuban history, co-edited a collection of essays that was published as a special issue of Cuban Studies/Estudios Cubanos, and published sixteen peer-reviewed articles and book chapters. Her current study, Climate and Catastrophe in Cuba and the Atlantic World in the Age of Revolution will be released by the University of North Carolina Press in fall. Most recently she was a Research Fellow at the Rachel Carson Center for Environmental Studies at the Ludwig-Maximilians University in Munich, Germany, and has received numerous other awards and fellowships.
