Please consider joining us TODAY (Wednesday January 25th) at noon for another weekly installment of the Lunch BYTES student computing seminar. This week David Shiffman will be sharing how blogging and twitter can contribute to effectively communicating your science.

"Social media for scientists: How to blog and use twitter, and why you should"

Social media technology has made it easier than ever before in human history for people to find information, and easier than ever before in human history for experts on a given topic to get information to the interested public. Learn how to use these tools (with a specific focus on blogs and twitter), and learn about the personal and professional advantages of them.

Abess Center for Ecosystem Science and Policy Ph.D. student David Shiffman writes for Southern Fried Science, one of the most widely read ocean science blogs on the internet, and is one of the most influential marine conservationists on twitter (@WhySharksMatter).

When: noon to 1pm

Where: SA 120 NEW ROOM

We look forward to seeing you!

Cheers,

Teddy Allen (MPO) and Katinka Bellomo (MPO)
