Title:          “Offshore Wind Energy for Florida: Resource,   
Development, and Policy Challenges”

 Abstract: Preliminary analysis indicates that Florida has a plentiful offshore wind resource. Department of Energy studies suggest contributions of
up to 10 GW towards a national strategy of providing 20% of our nation’s electricity needs by 2030, yet other DOE documents leave Florida out
of the national offshore wind resource map.  This report will discuss Florida's offshore wind resource according to buoy and QuikScat wind measurements,
compare it to other regions with wind farms in the development stage, and discuss the challenges facing future development of offshore wind to help meet
our nation’s energy needs and reduce our dependence on fossil fuels.
