Friends and members of the Greater Miami chapter of the AMS,
With the first day of hurricane season upon us, I wanted to post this reminder about media events cued to
hurricane preparedness.  Some of these specials slipped by me, but I have updated the below listing as best
as I could.  I've marked in red those that have already been broadcast or published.Every year, new people arrive in south
Florida, but few have any experience with tropical cyclones.  It is necessary to continue our education efforts with
the public every hurricane season to inaugurate the newcomers but also encourage the 'old hands' not to become
complacent.  Our local news media will be publishing or broadcasting informational material related to hurricane
preparedness over the next two weeks as we lead into the season.  Below is a summary of dates and times for
media specials regarding hurricane awareness.  If I receive any new entries or updates, I will share them also.
Please pass this information along to everyone you know, but especially any neighbors or associates who are new
to south Florida.  And tune in yourselves, we can always learn something new.

Saturday, June 4th, 7PM.  30 minute special on CBS4

Channel 10 (WPLG):

West Palm Beach

In addition I wish to note that a revised edition of our TCFAQ (Tropical Cyclone Frequently Asked Questions) has been
put on the web today.  This is only a minor update, as no new Q&As were added and only a dozen of the older entries
were revised, mostly due to updated statistics due to the 2010 season.  Please, browse the site and let me know of any
changes, corrections, or suggestions you might have.  This is also a good resource for those of you who deal with the
public and often find yourselves answering the same hurricane related question time and again.
Please note that Todd Kimberlain (NHC) and Ada Monzon are working on the Spanish language version of the revised
version and we hope to have that available soon.
