SEMINAR: Date: Thursday April 7 Time: 4 pm Location: RSMAS SLAB-SEMINAR ROOM RJ Dunlap Marine Conservation Program Presents: Dr. Michael DomeierTitle: "Fishing for Answers: the capture and tagging of adult white sharks leads to surpising new discoveries."
Background:Dr. Michael Domeier is the founder of the Marine Conservation Science Institute. Over the past 20 years Michael has had a profound impact on a number of diverse topics related to our planet’s marine ecosystems. Although the public knows him best as the brains behind National Geographic Channel's successful series, Expedition Great White, he is renowned in his professional circles for his work with pelagic fishes, white sharks and coral reef fishes. He has been a leader in the field of electronic tagging and enjoys working on both the engineering as well as the biological aspects of this field. Michael's career began at RSMAS, where as one of Dick Robin's last students he earned his Ph.D. studying the evolution of coral reef fishes. He was popular at the marine fish hatchery, where he cultured many species of reef fishes, and at the bar where he poured many drinks.
