Presentation:    “Mapping and Navigation for Autonomous Mobile Robots”

 

 

Abstract:

 

This talk will describe our some of our recent research in perception,

navigation, and mapping for autonomous mobile robots operating in

complex dynamic environments. The first part of the talk will provide

an overview of our efforts in developing Simultaneous Localization and

Mapping (SLAM) algorithms for autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs)

performing mine countermeasures and ship hull inspection missions.

The second part of the talk will review MIT's performance at the 2007

DARPA Urban Challenge and will discuss more recent efforts to deploy

this technology for automotive active safety.
