Global Warming and the Hydrologic Cycle

                    The talk will discuss changes in the hydrological cycle in response to global warming that they have high confidence in. 

This confidence stems from the fact that they are derived from relatively simply physical arguments and are robust in all model 

projections of global warming. These robust responses include: wet regions becoming wetter and dry regions becoming drier, 

increased frequency of droughts and floods, an weakening of the atmospheric and oceanic circulation, and a drift in the mean 

climate towards a more "El Nino" like state. All of these robust responses are consequences of the increase in atmospheric water 

vapor associated with a  warming climate.
