Derek is an Assistant Professor in Aerospace Engineering at U. Maryland.  I 
have recently collaborated with him on adaptive sampling of underwater gliders 
in the coastal ocean, and have begun a new NSF collaboration on cooperative 
control of unmanned aircraft in hurricanes.  He is a recent recipient of a NSF 
CAREER award and is co-author of a textbook on engineering dynamics (in press).
