| This is a reminder of our hurricane symposium to be held tomorrow, May 19th, at 11 AM in the first floor conference room of the Atlantic Oceanographic and Meteorological Laboratory at 4301 Rickenbacker Causeway on Virginia Key. Please see for further details. Please note that the date and time had been changed from the original announcement due to scheduling conflicts. Since this falls during lunch time, you may "brown bag" the meeting and bring your own lunch. Beverages and cookies will also be available. I hope to see you there. Neal M. Dorst Wednesday, May 19, 2010 at 11 AM. featuring Rusty Pfost "50th Anniversary of Hurricane Donna" The development of, path of, preparation for, impact by and reaction to Hurricane Donna, a category 4 Cape Verde hurricane that moved through the Caribbean, Florida, and the eastern seaboard of the United States, will be reviewed and remembered. Neal Dorst "Storm Patrol and the Lost Hurricane" A historical curio is examined, the timeline of efforts to institute marine and arial storm patrols in the 1930s and how they were effected by the Labor Day hurricane of 1935 and its political outfall. |
