Title:  Experiments in Online Survey Collection

Speaker:  Scott Crosson
Affiliation: North Carolina Division of Marine Fisheries

Abstract
The Internet provides new opportunities for survey data collection of social and economic data. The Socioeconomics Program of the North Carolina Division of Marine Fisheries has been experimenting with online data collection tools for the past three years. Initial analysis indicates that mixed-mode surveys that present an online form as the first alternative can produce high completion rates while preserving data integrity and minimizing sampling bias.
