"New Findings on Underwater Behavior of North Pacific Whales"

Blue whales are the largest animals that have ever lived on the planet
and they were almost driven to extinction by whalers. Now, new studies
are revealing secrets of blue and humpback whale migrations and
underwater behavior.  John Calambokidis, a Research Biologist with
Cascadia Research, has been studying these marine creatures for more
than 20 years. In 2009, his research on blue whales was featured in
National Geographic magazine, as well as in a 2-hour special on the
National Geographic Channel.

Using new tags attached with suction
cups, his research has provided a unique view into the underwater lives
of these giants but also some of the threats they face. In addition to
photographs, John will show exciting footage of blue whales feeding,
taken from the perspective of a blue whale.
