Mission:

The RSMAS Ocean Technology Group provides technical and personnel support for sea-going experiments locally, nationally, and around the globe. This group works closely with Principal Investigators from RSMAS and from other institutions worldwide.

 The tasks in support of these experiments include:

• Maintenance, repair and calibration of instruments
• Design, manufacture and testing of mooring components
• Shipboard scientific observations including mooring deployment and recovery, CTD, ADCP, LADCP, turbulence profiling
• Data retrieval and quality control after recovery
• Preparation of data reports and data submittal to national data centers

Our group utilizes a large assortment of instrumentation, including:

• Moored and profiling CTDs by SeaBird and other manufacturers
• Shipboard, moored and lowered ADCPs by RDI and Sontek
• Moored single point current meters by Nortek, Sontek and Aanderaa
• Microstructure profiler by RGL Scientific
• CODE surface drifters
• TSKA temperature sensors
• Palace Floats
• Subsurface float ballasting
