Center ProfileThe Marine and Freshwater Biomedical Sciences Center (MFBS Center) at the University of Miami was founded in August of 1991 with a center grant from the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences. Since that time, more than 20 original research projects and 24 pilot projects have been implemented, an international conference on Marine Toxins and Dietary Risk has been hosted in cooperation with the Pan Amercian Health Organization (PAHO/OPS) and the World Health Organization (WHO), a detailed Community and Education Program has been initiated in Environmental Health Sciences, and a Poison Control Marine Hotline has been established. This web site was designed to guide you to the information you need in a quick and efficient manner. The main menu above provides links to the various sections of the web site. There are sections for the general public, healthcare professionals, researchers and scientists, educators and students, and media professionals. Each section provides detailed information on the center and its activities. Select a category above and a category-specific menu will appear to the left of this window. Use this menu to navigate within a category and use the top menu to change categories. Although we have designed this site to be as user-friendly as possible, there may be occassions where you may want to return to this page to find out how this site is organized.
