Center ProfileThe Marine and Freshwater Biomedical Sciences Center (MFBS Center) at the University of Miami was founded in August of 1991, with a center grant from the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS). Since that time, more than 20 original research projects and 24 pilot projects have been implemented, an international conference on Marine Toxins and Dietary Risk has been hosted in cooperation with the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO/OPS) and the World Health Organization (WHO), a detailed community and Education Program has been initiated in Environmental Health Sciences, and a Marine and Freshwater Toxin Disease Reporting Hotline (888-232-8635) has been established. |
