Water Module:

Scenario: A Threat to Biscayne Bay
We are all concerned about the quality of our fresh and salt water resources. Miami area residents in particular may remember June 20, 2000 as a day of infamy. That was the day a contractor ruptured the 54 inch sewage line that spewed more than 25 million gallons of untreated human sewage into Biscayne Bay. To say that the tourist industry, not to mention environmental health agencies were extremely concerned would be an understatement. Millions of dollars of revenue were at stake as well as the health of people and animals on or near the water. Soon after the spill, the beaches were reopened, but questions from groups around the country remain. The publicity from the spill has heightened the concern for water quality.
