A partir de junio de 2006, el Servicio Meteorológico Nacional (SMN) de Argentina comenzó a producir en forma operacional un nuevo producto de diagnóstico climático para la Pampa Húmeda argentina: el Indice de Precipitación Estandarizada (IPE). |

Este producto permite que los productores agrícolas monitoreen el comienzo y duración de sequías para más de 30 localidades en la Argentina, y para escalas de tiempo de 1 a 12 meses. Mapas del IPE actualizados para el último mes se pueden encontrar en la página del SMN en la Internet (http://www.meteofa.mil.ar/?mod=clima&id=55). In June 2006, the Argentine Meteorological Service (SMN) started producing operationally a new climate diagnostic product for the Argentine Pampas: the Standardized Precipitation Index (SPI). This product allows farmers and other users to monitor onset and duration of droughts for over 30 locations in the Pampas, and for temporal scales ranging from 1 to 12 months.
