Minor in Marine Policy

A minor in Marine Policy is now offered to all UM students by the Rosentiel School. The 15 credit minor will fulfill the People and Society cognate requirement. The minor consists of:

MSC 111 (Introduction to Marine Science, 3 cr)

12 credits of Marine Policy electives chosen from:

  • MSC 346 (Climate Science and Policy, 3 cr)
  • MSC 410 (Marine Conservation Science, 3 cr)
  • MSC 415 (Coral Reef Science and Management, 3 cr)
  • MSC 420 (Political Ecology of the Galapagos, 3 cr)
  • MAF501 (Political Ecology of Marine Management, 3 cr)
  • MAF 504 (Fieldwork in Coastal Management, 3 cr)
  • MAF 510 (Environmental Planning and the Environmental Impact Statement, 3 cr)
  • MAF 512 (Aquaculture Management, 3 cr)
  • MAF 518 (Coastal Zone Management, 3 cr)
  • MAF 530 (Port Operations and Policy, 3 cr)

Notes: Students majoring in the School of Marine and Atmospheric Science should replace MSC111 with an additional elective, and all electives must be above and beyond those used for the major.
