FAST04 - Preliminary Results

ABSTRACT
This is a preliminary report of results from the FAST04 experiment in the East China Sea in September 2004. We compare the trajectories of the drifters in the FAST04 experiment with modeled trajectories using NRL EAS16 model data. The EAS16 model is data assimilating and includes tidal forcing. The deployments were made in a region dominated by strong tides; twelve drifters were deployed. We find that the maximum agreement between the real and modeled drifters is about three days.
